Preliminary Ideation

This week I began the ideation process for the Windsor chairs as well as a few other pieces that I could potentially build. It is always difficult to get ideas onto the page, I must go through 30 or so ideas until something unique flows from this process.

In other news, I completed my concept container. It represents my personal practice, a small Japanese inspired tool box that can carry all of my Japanese tools. The box was created with the help of the tools that are stored inside. The majority of the box was cut with machines, but I used my hand plane to flush the edges that were proud, and to break the edges.

The top is large enough to hold my water stones.

The edge of the box can also hold my hand plane. Ready for use at any time.
